Function: Defense Technology Location: Dubai and Abu Dhabi, with extended visits to test ranges and customer integration sites.
01.Summary
The Defense Technology division builds detection and mitigation systems for unauthorised unmanned aerial systems operating in protected airspace. We are hiring an engineer to contribute across the stack: RF sensing, signal processing, onboard autonomy, and the operator-facing software that ties them together.
02.What you will do
- Develop and tune RF detection and classification pipelines across a range of sensor configurations.
- Implement signal-processing algorithms for direction-finding, spectrum monitoring, and waveform identification.
- Contribute to embedded firmware on edge devices, with attention to determinism, thermal envelope, and field-serviceability.
- Integrate detection output with autonomy frameworks responsible for tracking, classification, and response coordination.
- Support range testing and customer integration trials, including the iteration cycle that follows.
- Participate in design reviews and contribute to internal documentation on system architecture and behaviour.
- Work alongside Field Operations colleagues to ensure the system reflects how it is actually used in the field.
03.What we look for
- Production engineering experience in RF systems, signal processing, or related disciplines.
- Strong applied knowledge of at least one of: GNU Radio, MATLAB/Simulink, C++ on embedded Linux, or modern Rust.
- Familiarity with autonomy frameworks (for example, ROS 2) and an understanding of real-time constraints.
- Track record of contributing to systems that operate in adverse conditions, with appropriate respect for failure modes.
- Postgraduate qualification in electrical engineering, computer engineering, physics, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
- Comfort working in a regulated environment with documented engineering standards.
- Willingness to travel to test ranges and customer sites on a recurring basis.
04.Vetting
All offers are conditional on successful background screening conducted in accordance with the law of the candidate's hiring jurisdiction. Screening includes verification of prior employment and education, criminal-record checks, sanctions and adverse-media review, conflict-of-interest disclosures, and reference interviews. Engineers working on regulated technology are subject to additional export-control and end-user screening as required by applicable law.
